Wordless Wednesday

Suggestions needed please!!!

This weekend we're going to take a trip up to Hershey, PA. Should be lots of fun!

The problem is that Benjamin and Eliza both have a hard time staying in their beds to go to sleep if they're not in their own beds in their own rooms. When we went to Great Wolf Lodge a few weeks ago it took nearly 2 hours to get Eliza to stay in bed and go to sleep. We don't want to go through that again. And this time we won't have bunk beds in our room so they'll be sharing a big bed.
Any ideas on how to get them to lay down and relax so they will fall asleep?

Rough night

Nathaniel's been sick for a while so every night he's ended up in our bed at some point and then just stays the rest of the night. He's feeling better now so last night was night #1 of not bringing him into our bed. (I'm not opposed to co-sleeping, in fact I'm mostly for it if it works for everyone, but in this house it means Spencer ends up on the couch since I can't sleep at all if the baby is even close to touching me). Nathaniel is such a Mama's boy that he would do anything to be close to me. So basically I didn't get much sleep at all last night. I did order a snoedel in the hopes that that will help him feel like I'm closer without me really having to be there.

The first night's always the hardest right?

Waiting...

Trying to do so patiently, but really...I hate waiting!!!

First big boy bath

This is Nathaniel's first time in the big tub. As you can see, he quite enjoyed it. I'm wondering if maybe we should nix the bubbles until he's a little older since he kept eating them and rubbing them in his eyes. Although, he was having so much fun he didn't even make a fuss. The kids thought it was great fun having him in there with them. Thank goodness for bath seats! And I'm just happy that I can now go down to getting all three baths done at the same time.

The Great Wolf Lodge

I meant to get this post written awhile ago but somehow was unable to find the time to do it. So, here it is...finally: Our time at The Great Wolf Lodge.

This post should be full of pictures but...well...we forgot our camera. So, we stopped at walmart to grab a disposable. I saw the waterproof camera and thought that would be perfect, but I didn't check to make sure it had flash on it. It didn't. So most of the pictures we took didn't turn out. We've decided that we're just going to have to go back again so we can get some great pictures.

We left Wednesday morning to head down to Williamsburg. Everybody was in a great mood, we knew we were all going to go have a great time. It was pouring down rain but that didn't matter a bit. Spencer dropped the kids and I off at the front of the hotel while he went and parked the car. We had been telling the kids for days that we were going to play in the water so when we stepped off the elevator on our floor and saw huge windows in front of us that we overlooking the waterpark their eyes opened wide. I took them over and showed them all the fun stuff we were going to do.

We went and got settled in our room which was another fun adventure for them. We got the room with the wolf den. Essentially, the room has a little "den" with a bunk bed, murals on the wall with little baby wolves playing in waterfalls, and their own TV. They LOVED it! Benjamin, of course, got the top but Eliza wasted no time in learning how to climb the ladder (scared me to death! I thought for sure she was going to fall and we would waste our fun time in the ER).
As soon as we got settled we all got changed into our swimsuits and headed down to the waterpark. It was AWESOME! Seriously, unbelievable that they have that indoors. They had great areas for the little kids to run around. They have slides for the little kids and we were able to get Eliza to go down one right away but Benjamin was much more timid and didn't try it until day 2.

We played for a bit until Nathaniel got tired and needed to be put down for a nap. So, we all went back to the room and changed clothes so Spencer could take the kids to do the magiquest while I stayed with Nathaniel. They loved using their wands to make "magic" happen.
Once Nathaniel woke up it was dinner and then back to the waterpark. It was much less crowded now so I was able to feel comfortable taking the kids into some of the deeper pools. There's one section with basketball hoops so I took them over to play with the balls for a little bit. Then Spencer and I decided we wanted to go down the real slides so we took turns watching the kids while the other would go do a slide. They have one slide that starts and ends inside but the entire actual slide itself is outside. Since the sun had already gone down it was pitch black in the slide. That made it so much fun.

We stayed until the kids decided they had had enough for one day. Once again, we went back to the room to get everyone cleaned up and in jammies. We put the 2 little kids to bed and then I took Benjamin down for story time in front of the fireplace. They have a little show first that we got to sit and watch and then Wiley the wolf comes out and reads all the kids a bedtime story.

That night was a little rough with Eliza. She just did not want to stay in her bed. We put her to bed at 8:00 and she didn't end up going to sleep until 9:40. exhausting! And it showed the next day. Luckily, she was really only difficult while we were in the room. Once we got back to the waterpark she was fine. Again, we just stayed and played until it was time check out and head home.

It was a much needed family getaway. Everybody had so much fun. Spencer's talking about going back next month. Hopefully it happens.

Rolling over is overrated

There he is! Sitting up like a big boy.

And here he is...still hasn't rolled over. When I expressed concern to his Dr. she said "it's okay, he just needs a little more momentum than most babies."
I've finally come to terms with the fact that he's probably just not going to roll over. This is as far as he gets either on his tummy or his back.

Laundry day

I started laundry at about 7:00 this morning. I kept it moving all day. It's now 9:00pm and the last load is finally sitting in the dryer waiting to be folded. How on earth does a family of 5 have such a ridiculous amount of laundry for one week??? I don't get laundry. Some weeks are like this (although, I think I did more loads today than I've ever done in a single day) and other weeks we only have a few loads to do. It's never made sense to me. I remember when Spencer and I first got married I would do 3 loads a week. 1 load of colors, 1 whites, and 1 sheets and towels. I miss those days.

Random updates

I decided that this week it was finally time to get Baby Huey on a solid 2 nap schedule. I figured I would put him on the same schedule Eliza used to be on just to keep things simple. What a difference that has made. My goodness! I should've done it a month ago (and I'm not really sure why I didn't). My stress level has plummeted this week. It's fantastic.
He's also started eating solids. So far, there's nothing he doesn't like (does that surprise you?).
And I'm amazed at how much this kid can eat. Some days he'll nurse until there's nothing left, then take a 6 oz bottle, and then eat 3 oz of food. Good grief! can you imagine what it will be like when he's a teenager? He'll have to get a job just to pay for his own groceries!
Spencer's putting in applications like crazy for jobs in both Denver and Vegas. Right now the one he really wants is a government job in Denver. We're hoping! I'm not sure I care anymore which place we go to. I'm just ready to be close enough to be able to see family whenever we want. I've had enough of this living so far away nonsense!
Um, I can't think of anything else exciting that's going on.
